Pottery Barn Hack – Create Your Own Fabric Pinboard

Do you need a new spot to organize your creative thoughts or project ideas?

Here is a quick and easy tutorial you can accomplish in a short time over the weekend – Create your own Fabric Pinboard to collect your notes, photos or to pin what inspire you.  You can create a colorful one like the one below from Pottery Barn by using colorful fabric and paint.  The one I create is purposely plain because I like a blank canvas when collecting my ideas.

Pottery Barn Pinboard

This project cost me less than $20. to complete and I got the extra large pinboard I needed.  The one from Pottery Barn cost $130.

Create A Fabric PinBoard Tutorial

Supplies:

  • A large picture frame – I found mine at a thrift store for $6.
  • One yard of solid fabric or burlap – I used a remnant of linen I had
  • Cork – $12.99 for a roll
  • Spray adhesive

MirrorStep 1. Remove the back from the frame and paint the frame if you desire.

IMG_21974.  Let the cork adhere and flatten to the board.  Trim the excess cork so it will fit neatly into the frame when you reattach it.

IMG_21985. Cut your fabric to the board size with 1/2 inch hem. Iron your fabric first. Spray adhesive the cork and lay the fabric on top. Let it dry.

You can make your pin board pretty by using a colorful fun fabric as shown in this Pottery Barn one that cost $130.

I purposely chose a plain fabric and frame because I wanted a blank canvas for my ideas.

Enjoy Creating!!!
