Travel As Design Inspiration – The Latest ADAC Behind The Windows

The latest ADAC Behind The Windows is inspired by travel, near and far places from around the world.  When you look I’d love to know what inspires you?

Behind the windows - Travel as Design Inspiration

Behind The Windows is an interior design series of window display vignettes showcasing furnishings in the Atlanta design center.  Ten interior designers from the southeast US were chosen to create the displays.

Since travel, design and culture are 3 of my favorite things I couldn’t wait to see the new series of windows.  They didn’t disappoint.  Here’s a look at 2 of my favorite Behind The Windows designs.

Inspiration Room – Jaipur, India

by James Wheeler Designs

“From it’s old world architecture and rich use of color, to it’s juxtaposition of old and new, I looked to the Indian city of Jaipur for inspiration.”

I had the opportunity to meet James Wheeler this week and hear him speak about what inspired him and how he created his design.

ADAC BTW - James Wheeler, India

This space beckons you into it’s serenity.  The pink walls, the canopy draped bed, all the natural elements and the Indian carpets speak peace in this space.

“In a nod to the boom that Detroit experienced during the WWII era, we created a grand Art Deco inspired space that blends eclectic style with traditional crafts motifs with Machine Age materials that were prevalent at the time.”
